Sandy Valley Plane Crash Kills One Man

A small plane crash near Sandy Valley, Nevada killed the pilot and only occupant of the plane. The plane was a single seat model.

Officials say the pilot was a resident of Sandy Valley who built the aircraft, called a "Vegas Sport Flyer." The man's name hasn't been made public. He was a licensed pilot and recently got his aircraft repair certification.

He took off from an air strip in Sandy Valley, but it wasn't immediately clear where he was headed. Firefighters from Sandy Valley were first to respond after the crash.

The man has been a licensed pilot since 1994. The FAA, as well as authorities from San Bernardino County, California are investigating the accident.
